Venetian Mosaic Tiles - 1cm (3/8")
In ancient Mesopotamia craftsmen cut stone to create the tiny pieces of tesserae that made up the earliest mosaics. Those used on walls were shaped and raised fractionally, to catch the ever changing quality of light and add beauty and interest to a surface that might otherwise be plain - or sometimes irregular.

Tiny sections in pale greys, buffs and beiges make for a clean, modern look. Out of thousands of pieces, a random few of slightly lighter or darker shades add variety and visual interest.
