Autumn colours

It’s that time of year where the nights start drawing in, there’s a chill in the air and thoughts start to turn to the festive period (that we won’t name just yet). With a renewed desire for cosy nights and warm interiors, here are some simple ways of incorporating this style into your home.

As you can see from the above moodboard, metallics are your friend when it comes to injecting a touch of warmth into your interior. Copper Leaf (shown above centre) plays into the current trend for copper, but yellow gold, rose gold or brass works just as well. These metallic finishes will reflect light and give off a warm glow that make your space feel both luxurious and cosy. Use as a splashback in a kitchen or to cover the whole of a bathroom - as they're made from glass they're easy to clean. The large format size also minimises the look of grout lines to create a seamless look that won't distract the eye or trap dirt - perfect for those who prefer a low maintenance option. If you prefer a more subtle metallic option, try the Metallic Steel or Metallic Copper porcelain tiles; affordable and practical, these offer the look of aged metal and can be used on walls and floors throughout the home.

There's a wide range of hues you can use to channel an autumnal feel. Deep berry reds and burgundies are the obvious choice, but don't ignore rich, muted forest greens and olive tones. These harmonise wonderfully with metallics so opt for a paint colour that contrasts but complements your chosen tiles.

Natural patinas such as wood or natural stone add a real sense of depth, so incorporate these where you can. Wood effect tiles or natural stone flooring are practical choices that look beautiful, too. They can be used with underfloor heating to keep toes toasty year round. These styles won't date by next year, and will provide the perfect base for you to update your look each season. As with your wardrobe, do this by adding layers to your home as the chill creeps in. Blankets in warm tones, sheepskins, rugs and other accessories that can easily be swapped out come Spring will transform your space.
