Call of the wild – tropical trends

Whilst we don’t advocate following trends simply because they are trends – particularly when it comes to tiles which are a more long term commitment than a cushion or paint colour – we do believe that you can glean ideas and use these in your home.

One of the trends of the moment is vibrant tropical, jungle style interiors. Think bold leafy prints in rich greens coupled with a touch of animal print. This is a fun look and certainly not one for the faint hearted! It feels luxurious, thanks to deep hues, and can be quite over the top, but it's possible to take inspiration from parts of this trend and work them into your home.

Be inspired by the colours of the tropical look - deep green tiles will look gorgeous in a bathroom or grab attention as a splashback in the kitchen. Reminiscent of giant leafy palms, simply add plants to create that jungle vibe. Our Artworks collection is a great place to start, with richly glazed tiles in a range of tones - Palm Green is particularly apt.

Animal print can be a controversial subject but there's no doubt that injects a bit of fun into your interior. Fromleopard print glazed stone mosaics to Zebra print porcelain tiles, adding just a little to an otherwise plain scheme can really bring it to life.  Pair with white tiles for freshness or deep black for drama.

Animal print not for you? Go au naturel and opt for porcelain wood effect tiles - or even bamboo if you want true tropical style. Not only are these practical and hard wearing, but they look incredibly realistic and it can be difficult to distinguish them from the real thing. These are suitable for use with underfloor heating and many can be used throughout wet rooms to create a natural environment. Simply add some plants and a rainfall shower head and you'll feel like you're deep in the jungle!
