5 great ideas for updating your kitchen this spring

January is a good time to look forward to the warmer months and plan those projects to enhance your home.  If you would like to update your kitchen but ripping out the old and replacing it with a brand new version is beyond your budget, refreshing some of the wall tiling could be the answer for a new look without a huge price tag. Here are just few ideas for giving your tired kitchen a makeover this spring.

1 Add some colour with a glass Splashback

Purpose-made glass Splashbacks can add a pop of colour behind a hob or sink. Try vibrant green (it’s the colour of 2017!), or how about bright pink, or the warm copper leaf effect from Glassworks.

2 Try a different shape

Brick and metro tiles are perfect for kitchen walls. You don’t have to stick to the offset brick bond layout though. Experiment with herringbone or other layouts for extra interest.

3 Play with pattern

Introducing pattern as a Splashback will instantly update a dull kitchen. Odyssey patterns look great on walls as well as floors, and these Chateaux tiles are gorgeous even in small areas.

4 Feel the texture

Add a polished finish for shine and reflections, or a smooth matt finish for a contemporary and sleek feel. Marble effect porcelain tiles from Tileworks are so practical for kitchens and the large formats provide a seamless effect and you get a lot of coverage with a small number of tiles.

5 Have some fun

Why not add a touch of humour or fun to your kitchen wall? A sparkling mosaic behind the sink, a few cheerful chickens behind the range cooker, your favourite wines spelt out on the wall – all are guaranteed to lighten the mood.
