A kitchen makeover with The Winchester Elements collection

When Margaret Meninno from Massachusetts discovered the Elements collection, she knew the tiles would be perfect for her kitchen makeover. Here’s a bit more about the project, alongside some before and after photos:
Q. What made you choose Winchester Elements Origin Tiles?
A. Winchester Residence was originally my favorite range, the colors and texture of the tile reminded me of pottery. I was planning to use the Mint color from Residence however I always felt hesitant that it was too strong of a green for our kitchen. Once I saw the samples of the Elements line I knew the slightly softer colors would be perfect yet still give me the texture I loved.
Q. How important would you say tiles are in transforming an area?
I think tile is very important in transforming a space. There are so many options out there that A. can either completely change or dictate the style of your room or like in my case, it can simply add another layer of texture and color to a space to work with what is already there. How big you want the transformation to be is up to you, but tile can be a key element in that change.
Q. What advice would you give to people looking to create beautiful tiled focal points in their homes? (e.g. opt for simplicity, be bold with colours, make sure you get high-quality tiles, embrace variety in shapes & sizes, etc)
A. I don’t think there is a one-size-fits-all answer to that question. I always think that color and texture are most important. Find a color that speaks to you, weather it is a bold bright teal or a soft muted green, take time to explore your options. I like a simple scheme that looks beautiful but doesn’t jump out at you when you walk into the room.
Q. Were you looking to create a certain style in your kitchen and how did the tiles help you achieve this?
A. I don’t think I had a particular style in mind, I just wanted something with understated beauty. We have a big bay window in our kitchen that overlooks our backyard and pond. I wanted a tile that felt natural and organic, something that didn’t take away from the view but added to it. I think the Elements Origin tiles gave me that. They grab my attention right away and the more I look at them, the more I appreciate the beautiful subtleties of the tile.
The tiles for this project were supplied through Roma Tile, Massachusetts. To find your nearest retailer click here.
