The smell of freshly baked bread, a hearty stew in oven, and is there honey for tea …
A traditional kitchen is the epitome of rural life, the 'must have' if you are escaping to the country. Even if you don't live in the countryside it's still a style loved by many. Essentials for the look are a range cooker and rustic flooring, possibly a butler's sink. And tiles. Floor tiles need to be robust enough to stand up to the rigours of muddy boots, pets, kids and cooking for crowds, so porcelain, natural slate and terracotta all fit the bill. Plain and patterned wall tiles (preferably hand painted) depicting fruit, vegetables and countryside scenes all help to set the scene in your rural idyll kitchen.
