Aura Restaurant, The Coal Exchange, Cardiff

 We are delighted that Original Style tiles played a central role in the creation of Aura, the new restaurant within Cardiff’s iconic Coal Exchange building. This landmark space now showcases a refined, luxurious dining experience where carefully selected materials help define its distinctive atmosphere.

Crafting the Perfect Bar 

Aura’s design was built around a palette of moody burgundy and chestnut tones, with an emphasis on timeless elegance. To establish a strong visual foundation in the bar area, the designers chose Original Style Victorian Floor Tiles in a classic checkerboard layout, using Black and Brown. This heritage-inspired scheme pays homage to the historic character of The Coal Exchange while introducing a sense of structure and balance. The deep, earthy tones ground the space, adding richness and depth that harmonise beautifully with the restaurant’s wider material palette.

Throughout the project, careful tile selection played an essential role in shaping a scheme that feels both contemporary and sympathetic to the building’s history. The chosen Original Style products not only complement the architecture but also elevate the overall ambience with their craftsmanship, colour, and depth.
